I would like to tell you about the first conversation I had with Lynne Dominico – and the last one.

The first was in April of 1979, almost 30 years ago. After seeing a posting on the bulletin board at Ryerson advertising for a PA announcer, statistician and writer for a local baseball team, I was hired by Jack Dominico to fill that role for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Brantford Red Sox left no doubt that they were the better team Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits, and as a result the Intercounty Baseball League will have new champion this year.

Josh McCurdy homered twice and drove in six runs as the Red Sox swept the defending champion Toronto Maple Leafs out of the playoffs with a convincing 14-4 win, easily taking the best-of-seven opening round series in four straight games.

Brantford moves on to the IBL semi-finals while the Leafs move on to an uncertain off-season after one of their most disappointing seasons in decades.
