Leafs one win away from second round with 16-12 win

After a shaky start to their Intercounty Baseball League first round series, the Toronto Maple Leafs are suddenly one game away from the second round.

Jon Waltenbury hit a pair of home runs for the second straight game and Dan Gibbons, Kern Watts and Jordan Castaldo also homered, leading the Leafs to a 16-12 win over the Burlington Twins in game four of their best-of-seven series Tuesday night in Burlington.

Toronto leads the series 3-1 and can wrap it up with a win Wednesday night at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

They aren’t exactly back in control of their first round playoff series, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are at least back in the series lead.

Jon Waltenbury hit a pair of mammoth home runs as the Leafs rallied from a 4-2 deficit to edge the pesky Burlington Twins 7-5 in the third game of their best-of-seven Intercounty Baseball League opening round series Sunday afternoon at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

Toronto leads the series 2-1 with game four in Burlington Tuesday night and game five back in Toronto Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Leafs rebound for big win in game two

It took them awhile, but the Toronto Maple Leafs finally shook off the pesky Burlington Twins Thursday night.

One night after a huge upset loss at home in the opener of their best-of-seven opening round Intercounty Baseball League series, the Leafs erupted for three runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to down the Twins 11-4 in Burlington.

The series is now tied 1-1, with game three Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.
